Terms of use
Plain terms for using Driving Knowledge Test practice tests and buying unlock codes.
Last updated 22 October 2026.
About these terms
These terms apply when you use drivingknowledgetest.com (the "site"), which is run by Driving Knowledge Test (called DrivingTestGym until 22 October 2026; "we", "us") from the United Kingdom. By using the site you agree to them. When you buy an unlock code, these terms, our refund policy and the price shown at checkout form the contract between you and us. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.

What the site is
Driving Knowledge Test offers practice tests for driving knowledge, permit, learner and theory tests. They are not the official tests, and our questions are not official test questions. Not affiliated with any DMV, DriveTest, Transport for NSW, DVSA or other licensing body. We cannot book, change or mark a real test.
How our questions are written and marked
- How questions are written: our practice questions are drafted with AI from the official handbook for each test, in our own words. They are checked automatically and by an independent reviewer: a second AI system that answers every question without seeing our answer. Questions it disagrees with are rewritten or removed. We never copy official practice tests or their questions.
- How tests are marked: each practice test is marked against the official pass mark where the licensing authority publishes one. Where it does not, the test page says so and uses the format that is commonly reported, or our own; road-sign quizzes use our own pass mark.
- No guarantee: a practice score shows how you did on our questions. It does not predict or guarantee a pass in the real test.
- Check official sources: rules, fees and test formats change. Each test page shows the date we last checked its facts and links to the official licensing authority; always confirm with them before you book or sit a test. The site is a study aid, not driving instruction or legal advice.
We work to keep the questions accurate, but mistakes can happen. Every question has a "Report a mistake in this question" link, and we correct or remove questions that are wrong.
Using the site
You may use the site for your own personal, non-commercial study. Practice tests 1–2 for every state, province, territory or test, the road-sign quizzes and the information pages are free. We may change, add or remove questions, tests and features, for example to keep them accurate.
Unlock codes
- What you buy: an unlock code is a one-off payment that opens practice tests 3–10 for one state, province, territory or test. A country pass opens them for every test in one country (available for the United States, Canada and Australia). It is not a subscription.
- No account: after you pay, the unlock page shows your code and saves it in that browser. Keep a copy: you can enter it again on another device or browser, or after clearing your browser data. If you lose it, email us with the email address you used at checkout.
- Under 18? Ask a parent or guardian to buy the code for you.
- For one person: a code is for the person it was bought for. Do not share, publish or resell it. We may cancel a code that has been published or resold.
- Refunded codes: if your payment is refunded, the code stops working.
Prices and payment
The price is shown before you pay, in the currency of the test's country (US dollars for the United States, Canadian dollars for Canada, Australian dollars for Australia and pounds sterling for the United Kingdom). The amount you pay is the one shown on the checkout page before you confirm. Payments are taken by Stripe, our payment provider, under Stripe's own terms; we never see your full card number. Your bank may charge a fee for paying in another currency.
Refunds and your consumer rights
Our refund policy gives you a full refund on any unlock code or country pass if you ask within 14 days of buying it, for any reason. If you bought the wrong one, we will swap it or refund it.
This is in addition to your legal rights. If you are a consumer, you have rights under the law where you live; for example, in the UK, digital content must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If a code does not work or the tests are not as described, email us and we will fix it, replace it or refund you. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Fair use
Please do not:
- copy, scrape, download in bulk or republish our questions, explanations or road-sign drawings, for example to build another question bank, app or website;
- get around the unlock, or use or share a code that was not bought for you;
- copy or reverse engineer the site's code, or try to break its security;
- use automated tools to access the site, except as described below;
- use the site to break the law or to harm the site or other people.
Search engines may crawl and index the site within the limits of our robots.txt file. AI assistants and agents may read individual pages, including the Markdown versions of our pages and our llms.txt file, to answer a person's question or help them study. Neither may copy the site in bulk: robots.txt says which addresses crawlers may visit, not what they may copy.
Our content and other people's
We own the practice questions, explanations, road-sign drawings, text and design on the site, or have permission to use them. You may not use them except as these terms allow. The official handbooks, test names and logos belong to their licensing authorities, and the road signs our drawings show are set by those authorities. Naming an authority does not mean it endorses us.
Feedback and error reports
If you send us feedback or report a mistake, you allow us to use your suggestion to improve the site, free of charge and without naming you. We do not publish your email address or message.
Links and ads
The site links to other websites, such as official licensing authorities, Stripe's checkout and Google, and free pages show ads from Google. We are not responsible for other websites, their content or their ads, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.
Our responsibility to you
- We provide the site with reasonable care and skill, but we do not promise that it will always be available, free of errors or suitable for a particular purpose beyond what the law requires.
- If we break these terms or are negligent, we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses: the site is for personal study.
- If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will repair the damage or pay you compensation.
- Apart from the cases in the point above and the point below, and as far as the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for unlock codes.
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit or exclude, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Suspending or ending access
You can stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or block access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, for example by scraping the site, and we may cancel an unlock code that has been published or resold. If we close the site or stop offering tests you paid for, the law where you live may entitle you to a refund. The sections "Our content and other people's", "Fair use", "Our responsibility to you" and "Law and courts" continue to apply after access ends.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the law or the site changes. The date at the top shows the current version. Changes apply from that date and do not change the terms of an unlock code you have already bought, unless the law requires it.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring it there; if you live outside the UK, you can also bring it in the courts where you live. Wherever you live, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that place. Please email us first: most problems can be sorted out quickly.
General
If a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation that takes over the site, and your rights will not be reduced. Only you and we have rights under these terms.
